What words have the letter X?
X is the twenty-fourth letter of the alphabet. Its usual job is at the END of a word, where it makes a 'ks' sound, as in fox and box. Very few words begin with X — xylophone and x-ray are the two a young child is likely to meet.

For grown-ups
X is unusual: it hardly ever starts a word, and when it does — as in xylophone — it says z. Its real job is at the END of words, where it says 'ks', so fox and box are on this page deliberately.
