One letter appears at the top of each round. Below it are three letters to choose from, and only one is a match. Tap the letter you think is the same and the page says it out loud. Wrong taps do nothing unkind — the round simply waits.

For grown-ups

Matching a letter to an identical letter comes before naming it, and well before writing it. A child who cannot yet tell you the letter is called em can still see that two Ms are the same shape. That is the skill this game practises, so let them match in silence if they want to.

Common questions

Should my child know letter names before playing?

No. Matching two identical shapes works without knowing any names at all, which is why it is a good first alphabet activity. The spoken letter plays after each match, so names are picked up along the way.

Why are the wrong choices similar to the right one?

Pairs like M and W, or B and D, are the ones children genuinely confuse. Practising them side by side is more useful than choosing between letters that look nothing alike.
