Alphabet Journey for Kids

One letter, one short adventure: hear it, tap it, drag it, trace it, and collect your stars.

Choose a letter journey

What happens in a journey?

Each journey takes about five minutes and is narrated from start to finish, so your child does not need to read. Here is the A journey, step by step:

  1. Meet the letter. A big A bounces in and says its name, then the apple arrives: "A is for apple."
  2. See and listen. Letter, picture and phrase light up together, as often as your child likes.
  3. Tap the apple. Find the apple among four pictures.
  4. Drag it to A. Pick the apple up with a finger or mouse and drop it on the letter.
  5. Trace the A. Follow the dotted letter, starting at the green dots.
  6. Which one starts with A? Pictures only, so your child listens for the sound.
  7. A tiny quiz. Three one-tap questions.
  8. Stars and a celebration. Then play again or move on to the next letter.

For parents

Is it free?

Yes. The A, B and C journeys play free in your browser with no login and no ads. The full alphabet, every flashcard deck and all the games are in the Flashcards Kids app for iPhone, iPad and Android.

What if my child gets it wrong?

Nothing bad happens. A wrong tap makes the picture wiggle and the narrator says "Let's try again!" There is no timer, no score to lose, and no limit on tries. Stars reward finishing each step, not getting it right first time.

Does tracing have to be neat?

No. The tracing step counts the letter as done once your child has gone over most of it, so wobbly lines are fine. It is about learning the shape and the direction of each stroke, not handwriting.

Is progress saved? What do you collect?

Stars and finished letters are saved on this device only, so they are still there after a refresh. We do not ask for your child's name or any personal details. We count which steps get finished so we can make them better.
